Official opening held for renovated space at Grand Falls General Hospital

Grand Falls, June 25, 2019 – The Grand Falls General Hospital officially opened its recently renovated space today with a number of guests and dignitaries in attendance. 

These renovations, completed at a total cost of approximately $75,000, involved three projects funded by the Fondation des amis de l’Hôpital général de Grand-Sault. The first project consisted of modernizing two rooms (with renovations and furniture) dedicated to the comfort of patients in the palliative phase. The second project consisted of upgrading the lunch/activity room to facilitate recreational activities for patients. Finally, the third project primarily involved the chapel, which was relocated and furnished. The chapel now provides a more spacious, modern and accessible environment for contemplation.

“The goal of this initiative was to create spaces that make patients forget they are in hospital. I am pleasantly surprised with the final result and am certain that patients will be equally satisfied,” stated Annie Daneault, Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Fondation des amis de l’Hôpital général de Grand-Sault.

Vitalité Health Network was equally positive about the renovated space. “The quality of patient care is not only reflected in a hospital’s clinical and medical component. For patients, the environment where they are cared for always plays a role in their recovery since their wellness and comfort are key to the effectiveness of their treatments,” explained Gilles Lanteigne, President and CEO of the Network.  

These projects were made possible through the involvement of the Dr. Oetker Community Fund.
