New health care service offered in St-Paul-de-Kent
Ste-Anne-de-Kent, March 24 2015 – The Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital will be offering a new Nurse Practitioner satellite service in St-Paul-de-Kent beginning on Tuesday March 24th 2015. The Nusre Practitioner office will be located in the Résidences St-Paul, 20 Résidence street in St-Paul-de-Kent.
“Having a Nurse Practitioner on-site in the community will allow residents of Saint-Paul-de-Kent and the surrounding area to have closer access to consultations. We see this initiative having a positive impact as it will benefit the community and it will improve the quality of our health care services”, stated Marthe Léger, Facility Manager at the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital.
The establishment of a satellite office for the Nurse Manager is part of a pilot project involving a partnership with the Résidences St-Paul, allowing access to an office space inside their facility. The Nurse Practitioner will be receiving patients every second Tuesday from 8:30.a.m to 4:30p.m. beginning on March 24th. The Nurse Practitioner
A Nurse Practitioner is a Registered Nurse with clinical expertise in evaluation, diagnosis and in management of health care.
The Nurse Practitioner working in primary health care offers comprehensive health care including health promotion, prevention of disease and injury, curative care, support services, rehabilitative care and palliative care.
Nurse Practitioners can, among other tasks:
- diagnose or assess a disease, a disorder or medical condition;
- communicate the diagnosis or assessment to the patient;
- order and interpret screening and diagnostic tests;
- select and prescribe drugs.
