General X-ray services temporarily reduced at the Tracadie-Sheila Hospital
Tracadie, Thursday, December 22, 2016 – Regular activities in the Medical Imaging Department at the Tracadie-Sheila Hospital will be disrupted for the next few days due to a breakdown of the general X-ray digital unit.
The breakdown, which occurred late Tuesday, forced the facility to reschedule some patients. “After carefully assessing the cause of the failure, it turns out that we need a few days to complete the repairs,” said Stéphane Legacy, Vice-President of Outpatient and Professional Services at Vitalité Health Network. “We contacted patients who had a non-urgent appointment to postpone it. In the meantime, patients requiring general X-rays can be referred to another hospital, as appropriate.”
However, Vitalité Health Network wishes to point out that the Tracadie-Sheila Hospital has another X-ray unit that can provide basic services for urgent cases. As the situation unfolds, the hospital will contact any other patients whose non-urgent appointments have to be rebooked. The facility's CT scanner (CAT) is functioning normally.
The situation should return to normal within a few days. Vitalité Health Network regrets any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for their valuable co-operation.
