Campbellton Regional Hospital suffers broken water line

Campbellton, November 25, 2015 – A broken water line at the Campbellton Regional Hospital has forced the facility to reschedule some patients. 

The incident, which occurred yesterday morning in the Ambulatory Care sector, resulted in damage that is still being evaluated.  “We are in the process of determining the exact extent of the damage but based on our initial assessment, it does not appear to be major,” explained Jacques Duclos, Chief Operating Officer of the Restigouche Zone and Vice-President of Public Health.  The water reached a few examination rooms and offices belonging to Ambulatory Care, Electrodiagnostics, Echocardiography, and Audiology, all located on the ground floor.  The other care sectors of the facility were not affected.

Immediately after the incident was reported, the emergency measures plan was activated to protect the health and safety of patients and staff.  A team is at work ensuring that operations run smoothly under such circumstances.  A few services have been temporarily relocated to other, unaffected areas of the facility to maintain the comfort of patients and staff.

In a few cases, patients who were to receive ambulatory care services yesterday were rescheduled.  As the situation unfolds, the hospital will contact any other affected patients whose appointments have to be rebooked.  

The situation should completely return to normal within a few days.  The management of the Campbellton Regional Hospital regrets any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for their valuable collaboration.
